In art class, Doug had a project to make a drawing from a photo, by drawing grid lines and copying the grids. As you can see, Doug was excellent at shading (notice Ken’s nose).

His teacher recognized his talent and allowed him to progress slowly. I think Doug was more interested in completing Ken’s face before his own. Doug entitled this drawing “The Ride Home”.
